A Preliminary Field Study of Antifouling Paint Perfomance After Short Exposure in Mandara Bali, Indonesia

Antifouling paints are applied to prevent the growth of marine biofouling. In Indonesia, that paint is widely used for ship which commonly copper-based biocide. fact, there no or little comprehesive studies on antifouling in Indonesia compared other tropical countries. this study, evaluation performance was carried out where anticorrosion  paint and bare steel were also studied as references. The measurement corrosion rate conducted by weight loss method. panels containing specimens exposure up 1-month immersion different depth sea 3 meters. Seawater parameters consisting temperature, pH, salinity, conductivity dissolved oxygen measured well coating properties. results showed both surfaces covered biofouling, but not paint. There much properties before after various sea. reduction thickness apparently predominant be affected current. magnitude almost same took place due effect future, comparison perfomance all local regions necessary Indonesia.
